Does it have slime pools, a snack fountain, or a bouncy castle floor? Let's find out! Grab your supplies and let's get monsterriffic!
Materials Needed
- Paper: A nice big sheet of drawing paper, cardstock, or even a piece of cardboard from an old box.
- Drawing Tools: Crayons, colored pencils, markers, or paints – whatever you love to use for vibrant colors!
- Optional Collage Materials: Scraps of colored paper, fabric, yarn, cotton balls, glitter, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, or anything else interesting you find around the house!
- Glue Stick or Liquid Glue: If you're adding collage elements.
- Child-Safe Scissors: If you're cutting paper or fabric scraps.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Imagine Your Monster: Close your eyes for a moment and think about your monster friend. What do they look like? What makes them happy? What are their favorite things to do? Do they like bright colors or calm shades? This will help you design their perfect home!
-
Draw the Outline of Their Space: On your paper, draw the shape of your monster's "Happy Place." Is it a cozy cave? A towering castle? A cloud floating in the sky? Maybe it's just a comfy corner in a room! Don't worry about it being perfect, just get that main shape down.
-
Fill it with Monster-rific Details: Now for the fun part! What does your monster need in their happy place?
- A squishy sofa made of clouds? Draw it!
- A bubbling cauldron for warm monster baths? Add it!
- Shelves filled with their favorite smelly snacks or weird books? Draw those too!
- Maybe a window looking out onto a landscape of candy mountains or a slime river!
- Don't forget rugs, lamps, or even monster-sized toys!
-
Add Your Monster Friend: Once the room is taking shape, draw your monster enjoying their happy place! Are they napping on the cloud sofa? Reading a book by the cauldron? Playing with their favorite bouncy goo-ball?
-
Color and Decorate!: Bring your monster's home to life with lots and lots of color! Use your crayons, markers, or paints to make every detail pop. Think about what colors would make your monster feel super cozy and happy.
-
Optional: Get Textured with Collage! If you have collage materials, now's the time to add some extra sparkle and texture!
- Cut out shapes from colored paper to make mini rugs or curtains.
- Glue on fabric scraps for soft blankets.
- Add cotton balls for puffy clouds or fluffy pillows.
- Stick on googly eyes to furniture for a silly surprise!
- A little sprinkle of glitter can make anything feel magical!
Great job, creative monster! You've made a truly unique and happy home for your monster friend. Fig is so proud of your amazing imagination! Don't forget to show off your awesome artwork to your family and friends. We can't wait to see your monster's cozy corner!
