Getting ready for school doesn't just mean finding your pencils; it means getting your creative gears turning! Fig loves notebooks because they're perfect places for jotting down big ideas, drawing silly doodles, and learning new things. So let's turn a plain old notebook into a fantastic "Monster-iffic" masterpiece!

Materials Needed

To create your very own Monster-iffic Notebook Cover, you'll need to gather these creative goodies:

• One plain notebook (composition book or spiral notebook with a plain cover)
• Construction paper or craft paper in a variety of colors
• Child-safe scissors
• Glue stick or liquid school glue
• Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
• Googly eyes (different sizes are extra fun!)
• Optional: Yarn scraps, fabric scraps, glitter glue (use sparingly with a grown-up's help!), stickers, pompoms

Step-by-Step Instructions

Ready to make your notebook roar with creativity? Follow these steps, and remember, there are no mistakes in art – just happy accidents!

1. Gather Your Monster Tools! First things first, spread out all your materials on a clean workspace. Fig always says a tidy space makes for a happy artist!
2. Choose Your Base! Decide if you want to cover your notebook first with a new sheet of paper, or if you want to decorate directly onto the existing cover. If you choose to cover it, pick a color of construction paper that will be your monster's "skin."
3. Cover Up (If You Want To)! If you're using construction paper, carefully measure and cut it to fit the front cover of your notebook. Apply glue all over the notebook cover, then smooth your chosen paper onto it, pressing out any air bubbles. This is your monster's brand new face!
4. Eye, Eye, Captain! Now for the most important part: the eyes! Will your monster have one giant eye, two silly eyes, or a whole bunch of tiny ones? Glue your googly eyes onto the cover. If you don't have googly eyes, draw them on with your markers – make them sleepy, surprised, or super cheerful!
5. Mouths and Madness! Cut out a funny mouth shape from another piece of construction paper. Will it be a big, wide smile, a tiny smirk, or a goofy open mouth with pointy teeth? Glue it onto your monster's face. You can even cut out little triangle "teeth" and glue them inside the mouth.
